Recipe: Oat porridge


Ingredients:
1 cup rolled oats
3 cups of water
1 tablespoon cream
2 cm cinnamon stick

Optional toppings:
1 pitted date, chopped or
50g blueberries, fresh or frozen
20g raisins
1 teaspoon manuka honey or bush honey

Method:
Soak oats in 1 cup of water for 4 minutes

Put 2 cups of water in a pan with the cinnamon stick and bring to the boil.

When starts to boil, add the oats and the water

Turn the heat down low and cook for 5-6 minutes or until becomes thick

Alternatives:
If you want to use instant porridge use a plain one, as flavoured porridge may have artificial fruit flavouring and added sugar.

Any kind of fruit may be added but no more than 20g.

Make sure your cream is pure and no additives like thickeners.
